Better traction

I have a Cub 3204 and am looking for a way to get better traction when using the dozer blade. I also use the tractor for mowing. I have heard about filling the tires with antifreeze or getting a different tread type. Any suggestions?

Ag tires or loaded tires won't improve the tractor for finish mowing and may keep you off the lawn sometimes. I'd try adding detachable weight first--a loader bucket of gravel if it's a rear blade or a heavy 3ph implement if it's a front blade. I manage my own traction problems with turfs mostly be taking longer to do a job. Slower ground speeds and smaller bites and the occasional use of the diff lock work OK for me. ....

I use tire chains on my JD GX335 garden tractor when using the front blade. They make a world of differance. I have impressed my neighbors with the amount of work I can do with this little machine. ....

I forgot to add in my post above that I also add 200lbs of add on weight to the rear to counterbalance the weight of the 48" blade. ....

Adding weight to the inside of the tire will not help. You need wheel weights or weight added to the frame of the tractor.

As to the issue of more aggressive tread, I think that only helps if you are operating in really sloppy conditions. If you are pushing a blade down a gravel road a turf type tire will give you better traction than a bar tire, even in snow. ....

You can still add the 75lbs per wheel weights that they have offered to add additional ballast. ....
